kowtow β to act in an obsequious manner; show servile deference.
lackey β A servant, esp. a liveried footman or manservant.
minion β a servile follower or subordinate of a person in power.
teacher's pet β a pupil who is a favorite of a teacher.
yes-man β a person who, regardless of actual attitude, always expresses agreement with his or her supervisor, superior, etc.; sycophant.
dependent β To be dependent on something or someone means to need them in order to succeed or be able to survive.
doormat β a mat, usually placed before a door or other entrance, for people arriving to wipe their shoes on before entering.
fan β an enthusiastic devotee, follower, or admirer of a sport, pastime, celebrity, etc.: a baseball fan; a great fan of Charlie Chaplin.
groupie β a young person, especially a teenage girl, who is an ardent admirer of rock musicians and may follow them on tour.
hanger-on β a person who remains in a place or attaches himself or herself to a group, another person, etc., although not wanted, especially in the hope or expectation of personal gain.
parasite β an organism that lives on or in an organism of another species, known as the host, from the body of which it obtains nutriment.
puppet β an artificial figure representing a human being or an animal, manipulated by the hand, rods, wires, etc., as on a miniature stage. Compare hand puppet, marionette.
slave β a person who is the property of and wholly subject to another; a bond servant.
stooge β an entertainer who feeds lines to the main comedian and usually serves as the butt of his or her jokes.
subordinate β placed in or belonging to a lower order or rank.
adulator β to show excessive admiration or devotion to; flatter or admire servilely.
groveler β to humble oneself or act in an abject manner, as in great fear or utter servility.
politician β a person who is active in party politics.
handshaker β a person who is or is required to be overtly or ostentatiously friendly: Politicians are often incurable handshakers.
