- gong — a large bronze disk, of Asian origin, having an upturned rim, that produces a vibrant, hollow tone when struck, usually with a stick or hammer that has a padded head.
- tocsin — a signal, especially of alarm, sounded on a bell or bells.
- peal — a loud, prolonged ringing of bells.
- tintinnabulation — the ringing or sound of bells.
- angelus — a series of prayers recited in the morning, at midday, and in the evening, commemorating the Annunciation and Incarnation
