  • course — Course is often used in the expression 'of course', or instead of 'of course' in informal spoken English. See of course.
  • route — a course, way, or road for passage or travel: What's the shortest route to Boston?
  • description — You can say that something is beyond description, or that it defies description, to emphasize that it is very unusual, impressive, terrible, or extreme.
  • headline — a heading in a newspaper for any written material, sometimes for an illustration, to indicate subject matter, set in larger type than that of the copy and containing one or more words and lines and often several banks.
  • label — a slip of paper, cloth, or other material, marked or inscribed, for attachment to something to indicate its manufacturer, nature, ownership, destination, etc.
  • caption — A caption is the words printed underneath a picture or cartoon which explain what it is about.
  • rubric — a title, heading, direction, or the like, in a manuscript, book, statute, etc., written or printed in red or otherwise distinguished from the rest of the text.
  • legend — a nonhistorical or unverifiable story handed down by tradition from earlier times and popularly accepted as historical.
  • lemma — a subsidiary proposition introduced in proving some other proposition; a helping theorem.
  • descriptor — a word or phrase which constitutes the descriptive element of a sentence
  • bearing — Someone's bearing is the way in which they move or stand.
  • direction — the act or an instance of directing.
  • angle — An angle is the difference in direction between two lines or surfaces. Angles are measured in degrees.
  • point — a fraction whose denominator is some power of 10, usually indicated by a dot (decimal point or point) written before the numerator: as 0.4 = 4/10; 0.126 = 126/1000.
  • track — a structure consisting of a pair of parallel lines of rails with their crossties, on which a railroad train, trolley, or the like runs.
  • trajectory — the curve described by a projectile, rocket, or the like in its flight.
  • aim — If you aim for something or aim to do something, you plan or hope to achieve it.
  • way — manner, mode, or fashion: a new way of looking at a matter; to reply in a polite way.
  • line — a thickness of glue, as between two veneers in a sheet of plywood.
  • title — a clause in the 1972 Education Act stating that no one shall because of sex be denied the benefits of any educational program of activity that receives direct federal aid.
  • banner — A banner is a long strip of cloth with something written on it. Banners are usually attached to two poles and carried during a protest or rally.
  • header — the upper part of the body in humans, joined to the trunk by the neck, containing the brain, eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.
  • slogan — a distinctive cry, phrase, or motto of any party, group, manufacturer, or person; catchword or catch phrase.

  • ongoing — continuing without termination or interruption: ongoing research projects.
  • in progress — a movement toward a goal or to a further or higher stage: the progress of a student toward a degree.
  • entrained — Simple past tense and past participle of entrain.
  • bound for — going or intending to go; on the way to; destined (usually followed by for): The train is bound for Denver.
  • destined — If something is destined to happen or if someone is destined to behave in a particular way, that thing seems certain to happen or be done.
